
Inaugural NACLICS Conference
June 19 to 21, 2024
“Innovation for Sustainable Development”
The conference is co-organized by The North America and Caribbean Chapter of Globelics (NACLICS, www.naclics.org), the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s University, HEC Montréal, Stony Brook University, and the Centre for Democracy and Technology.
The event will be held in Saint Mary’s University, 923 Robie St. Halifax NS, Canada, Arthur L. Irving Entrepreneurship Centre (Campus Map) located on the second floor of the Sobey Inspiration Hub (SH) room SH 212B.

Experiential Learning Tours
The conference offers three unique experiential tours to participate:
- Digital Transitions – Volta and Pier Labs: Get to see the Volta space, learn more about resident companies and how they are supported. Explore Policy Innovation Experimentation and Research (PIER) LABS and learn how to drive social impact.
- Ocean Innovation – Cove: Explore marine tech companies who are creating the world’s next practical, commercial and revolutionary marine tech advances.
- Agricultural Transitions – Annapolis Valley: Explore the scenic beauty of Nova Scotia through its flourishing wineries and vineyards nestled in the Annapolis Valley.

Travel & Accommodations
The conference is fast approaching, and we want to remind you about planning your travels.
1. VISA to Canada
- Based on your country of citizenship, you may need to apply for either a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
- You can initiate this process by opening an online account with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and applying through their portal here.
- The application fee is CAD $100.
2. Accommodation:
- Barrington Hotel: Prices start from CAD 150 per night
- The Halliburton Hotel: Prices start from CAD 200 per night
- Cameo Hotel and Suites: Prices start from CAD 175 per night
- Garden South Park Inn: Prices start from CAD 150 per night

Refund Policy
Eligibility for Refund: You are eligible for a full refund of your ticket purchase under the following circumstances:
Change of travel plans
Visa rejection
Deadline for Refunds: All refund requests must be submitted no later than May 31st. Refunds will not be issued for requests made after this date.
Process for Requesting a Refund: To request a refund, please contact naclics2024@smu.ca with your ticket details and the reason for your refund request. You may be required to provide documentation to support your request, such as a visa rejection letter.
Refund Processing: Once your refund request is received and approved, the refund will be processed within 20 business days. The refund will be issued to the original method of payment used at the time of purchase.
Non-Refundable Fees: Please note that some fees may be non-refundable. This includes but is not limited to any service or handling fees by Eventbrite.
Amendments to the Refund Policy: NACLICS reserve the right to amend this refund policy at any time. Any changes will be communicated on our website and will apply to all ticket purchases made after the date of the change.
