Inaugural NACLICS Conference
June 19, 20, 21, 2024
“Innovation for Sustainable Development”
The North America and Caribbean Network on Learning, Innovation, and Competence Building Systems (NACLICS) invites academics and practitioners to propose papers or panels for its first research conference, on the theme “Innovation for Sustainable Development.” The conference will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from the afternoon of June 19 through the afternoon of June 21, 2024, in conjunction with the NACLICS PhD Academy.
NACLICS, a regional chapter of Globelics, encourages research on innovation and development from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. Innovation is crucial to addressing the profound social, economic, and environmental challenges facing our world, as reflected in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. NACLICS seeks to build community among scholars in our region who study how innovation can reduce inequalities within and between countries, to assure that development “leaves no one behind.”
For example, research presented at the conference might address the roles of innovation in
- Eliminating poverty and hunger
- Generating decent work and economic growth
- Enabling sustainable cities and communities
- Responsible consumption and production
- Strengthening industry and infrastructure
- Navigating digital transitions
While we encourage submissions on the central theme of the conference, submissions on all issues relevant to innovation for development are welcome.
Two types of presentation are available:
- Research papers. Original unpublished research. Submission may be either an extended abstract of 500-1000 words or a full paper. In either case, the submission should address goals, research questions, methods, and results.
- Special sessions. Several presentations on a topic. Sessions will be 90 minutes. They can include 3-5 speakers and must leave time for interaction and discussion. Proposed speakers should be confirmed.
Deadline for submission has been extended to: January 5, 2024. Papers should be submitted to NAC24 (NACLICS Conference 2024) (easychair.org). You will need to log into EasyChair first; then the NACLICS conference will appear when you use this link. Special session proposals should be sent to naclics2024@smu.edu.
