The North America and Caribbean Network on Learning, Innovation, and Competence Building Systems (NACLICS) invites academics and practitioners to propose papers or special session for its first research conference, on the theme “Innovation for Sustainable Development.” The conference will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from the afternoon of June 19 through the afternoon of June 21, 2024, in conjunction with the NACLICS PhD Academy.

NACLICS, a regional chapter of Globelics, encourages research on innovation and development from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. Innovation is crucial to addressing the profound social, economic, and environmental challenges facing our world, as reflected in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. NACLICS seeks to build community among scholars in our region who study how innovation can reduce inequalities within and between countries, to assure that development “leaves no one behind.”

For example, research presented at the conference might address the roles of innovation in: eliminating poverty and hunger; Generating decent work and economic growth; Enabling sustainable cities and communities; Responsible consumption and production; Strengthening industry and infrastructure; or Navigating digital transitions .
